Everything in Color: A Love Story is a critically acclaimed, USA TODAY best-selling graphic novel. It's 528 pages were hand-painted using a combination of traditional and digital media. This book is a creative meditation on my real life and experiences. It tells the story of one woman growing up as a church kid in evangelical America, coming of age and falling in love in purity culture, and reckoning with my inherited beliefs as an adult woman and as a mother. In it, I jump back and forth between a “past tense" depicted in black and white and a “present tense" depicted in color. The subtitle of the book is A Love Story… because at it's heart, that is what it is. It’s a story that includes romantic love, but it's also a book about maternal love, loving thy neighbor, and learning to love the parts of myself that I once feared and hated. Ultimately, it's the story of how I learned to see myself, others, God, and the whole wide world in vibrant, living color.
